Role Overview: This position involves performing complex engineering analyses and designs supporting operations, systems, programs, audit inspections, and assessments. The role requires advanced skills in engineering methods, analysis, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include providing specialized advice, utilizing innovative problem-solving techniques, and offering technical leadership and training on complex or extended projects.
Badge Requirements:

Green Badge Level 2: Requires completion of an ePHQ, a full background screen, and FFD testing. Access includes areas both outside and inside the protected plant area as specified on the UAR. Note that not all Green Badge holders will have full plant access.

Principal Accountabilities:

Complex Analysis & Design: Perform advanced engineering analyses and designs to support operations, using expertise in engineering methods, standards, and regulations.

Advisory Role: Provide counsel on assignments with unique engineering requirements, utilizing innovative problem-solving techniques.

Leadership & Training: Offer technical leadership on complex projects, train other engineers, and lead small groups to resolve sophisticated issues.

Policy Development: Identify needs and initiate development of new policies, programs, and procedures to achieve strategic objectives.

Compliance: Ensure regulatory and industry guideline compliance; interpret guidance for practical application.

Issue Identification & Resolution: Detect potential design, quality, or operational issues and initiate corrective actions via the plant’s Condition Report (CR) process.
Requirements:
Education & Experience
-
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of experience (plus one diverse assignment) OR a high school diploma/GED with a PE license and 8 years of experience (plus one diverse assignment).

Technical Knowledge: Extensive understanding of discipline-specific engineering principles, theories, and practices, with the ability to handle complex problem-solving and perform in-depth analyses.

Industry Awareness: Must stay updated on industry developments and applications specific to Energy Northwest.
Preferred

PE License: Highly preferred.

Specialized Experience: Knowledge in pipe stress analysis, pipe support/hanger support, and floor loading. Familiarity with Nuclear Design, the Standard Design Process, and Digital Design Process is beneficial.
