Openings:

  • 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:00 PM) – $21.50/hour
  • 3rd shift (11:00 PM–7:00 AM) – $23.00/hour



Position Opportunity

We are seeking a dependable and skilled Blow Molding Machine Operator with a strong mechanical and electrical background. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in plastics molding, particularly blow and/or injection molding, and familiarity with automated systems. This individual will play a key role in ensuring machine efficiency, product quality, and production continuity. The role requires strong troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Startup blow molding machine, periodically check to ensure machine set points are accurate. 
  • Ensure proper operation of machines; clean filters, perform minor maintenance, and monitor while purging. 
  • Ensure that material grinders are operating properly. 
  • Ensure that all materials are blended to the proper ratios and monitor the blending process for compliance. 
  • Troubleshoot machine breakdowns (molding machines, secondary equipment, material handling equipment, grinders, etc.). Obtain support as needed (maintenance, engineering, etc.) in a timely manner such that downtime is minimized. 
  • Ensure proper materials are used for the line running (verify by part numbers). 
  • Conduct quality inspections while line is running, check samples for compliance to specifications. 
  • Respond to problems on the line making proper adjustments to machines. 
  • Notify supervisor when repairs and maintenance are required. 
  • Re-start machines after maintenance is completed. 
  • Prepare paperwork/documentation on problems, cause and solutions. 
  • Record production and/or quality data (manual/data collector). Close out production run. 
  • Keep area clean and free of debris, enforce all safety and housekeeping policies and practices. 
  • Assist with training other Technician Operators on various aspects of the job. 
  • Perform other related duties and special projects. 
  • Will be exposed to non-climate control areas (hot and cold areas) 

Qualifications

  • Must possess good leadership skills, be a self-starter and have good math skills. 
  • Good communication skills are needed with the ability to train other personnel. 
  • Reliable attendance record is required. 
  • Must be capable of lifting to 50 lbs. Job requires walking, lifting, climbing and the ability to operate power and hand tools. 

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training or certifications in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.

Related Experience:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in blow molding, injection molding, or a related plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience involving machine troubleshooting, startup, and minor maintenance.

Knowledge/Skills Experience:

  • Knowledge of blow molding operations and machine setup.
  • Familiarity with automated manufacturing systems.
  • Understanding of quality inspection processes and material handling.
  • Competent in interpreting work instructions, material part numbers, and production documents.

Travel Requirements: Travel between sites in Alamance County.
