Job Title: HVAC Controls Systems Technical Leader

Job Summary:

We are looking for an HVAC Controls Systems Technical Leader to Mentor and Supervise our growing team of BAS Technicians and Interns in the  design, implement, and optimize the Building Automation system in new construction and retrofit projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in building our team, mentoring and supervising them as they configure control systems, troubleshooting performance issues, and ensuring seamless integration of HVAC equipment with automation solutions. This position requires strong leadership skills, proven work ethic and a deep understanding of HVAC principles, control logic, and system networking. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Supervisor
  • Supervise, Develop and Mentor Team of Technicians and Interns
  • With the support of the CEO, Establish Development plans to guide and support development of interns and new employees
  • Identify and Secure new work to support stable workflow for team.
  • Lead BAS Resource
  • Design and develop HVAC control systems for efficient system operation.
  • Configure and program Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Controls (DDC).
  • Integrate HVAC controls with third-party systems using protocols such as BACnet, and Modbus.
  • Perform commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and field technicians to support system installation.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements for energy efficiency and optimal climate control.
  • Provide technical support and training to clients and end-users.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, wiring diagrams, and programming logic.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10 years of experience in HVAC controls, BAS, or automation systems.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, control logic, and system networking.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for HVAC equipment, sensors, and actuators.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and system diagrams.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio, or similar tools for control system design.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in Niagara AX/N4, Tridium, or other BAS platforms.
  • Experience with energy management systems (EMS) and demand control strategies.
