Position Summary
The Project Coordinator supports small-scale projects and initiatives related to refueling outages, forced outages, and online maintenance. This role involves overseeing multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets, resolving scheduling issues, and ensuring the successful, safe, and efficient execution of assigned project work. The coordinator will also contribute to long-range planning and continuous improvement efforts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage project teams (1–5 members) in the planning, scheduling, and control of maintenance and outage-related project activities
- Coordinate all phases of project implementation including budget, resource loading, work package development, safety planning, ALARA protocols, procurement, and execution
- Resolve delays or conflicts during execution to maintain alignment with safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives
- Track cost performance vs. budget and initiate corrective actions where necessary
- Maintain regular contact with stakeholders including engineers, vendors, senior leadership, and support staff
- Support contract development and vendor management activities
- Provide written and oral project updates to management and key stakeholders
- Contribute to the long-range strategic planning of assigned projects
- Support outage efforts, including participation in the Outage Control Center (OCC)
- Participate in Columbia Generating Station's Self-Assessment and Corrective Action Programs
Education & Experience Requirements
Required (one of the following combinations):
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction/project management, business, or related field + 1 year of technical experience
- OR Associate’s degree in related technical curriculum + 3 years of technical experience
- OR High school diploma/GED + 5 years of technical experience
Desired:
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP)
- Construction Management Certification
Required Skills & Abilities
- Basic understanding of project management techniques
- Familiarity with cost-effective work execution principles and human performance fundamentals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Desired Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of error reduction techniques and human performance improvement (HPI)
- Experience managing small projects in outage environments (refueling, forced outages, or online maintenance)
- Familiarity with on-line work management, project execution strategy, and engineering coordination
- Knowledge of standard project management methodologies
