We are seeking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic B to join our manufacturing team in Chatsworth, California. This position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical systems by performing corrective and preventive maintenance on various types of industrial equipment including motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, conveyors, and production machines. Responsibilities include troubleshooting malfunctions and adhering to equipment manuals, engineering specifications, and safety protocols.

This is a hands-on role that requires standing for extended periods, walking, bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights (including on rooftops), and operating machinery such as scissor lifts. Candidates must also be comfortable working with chemicals in a manufacturing setting.

Compensation and Schedule:

  • Base pay is $37 per hour plus eligibility for overtime.
  • This is a unionized, on-site role.
  • Second Shift: Monday to Friday 2pm-11pm, with occasional Saturdays depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns on production equipment.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs, as well as preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Analyze and resolve technical problems quickly and independently.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, food safety, and environmental regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2-4 years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with high-speed production and packaging equipment.
  • Prior experience in dairy, beverage, or food processing strongly preferred.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of safety rules, GMP standards, and cross-contamination risks.
  • Experience with PLCs, pumps, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, HVAC, refrigeration, utilities, and boilers.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and mechanical/electrical repair.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, read safety instructions in English, and work at heights.
  • Teamwork, communication, and basic math/measurement conversion skills.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Work involves exposure to noise, chemicals, and temperature fluctuations.
