Job Description - Senior Project Manager

Multi-year contract with ability to convert to perm

For those not local, we can offer daily per diem and flights to and from WA to start and finish project

100% Onsite in Richland WA- No remote


General Information:

  • Project Scope: Manages multidiscipline projects greater than $10M, involving the highest complexity, risk, and financial investment.
  • Responsibilities: Oversees large-scale projects independently and leads teams of over ten members. Acts as a mentor and expert in project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead multidiscipline project teams, managing priorities and maintaining oversight of all aspects within scope.
  • Handle project budgets, including planning, scheduling, and controlling activities.
  • Provide expert mentorship to less experienced project managers and act on behalf of supervisors/managers when required.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and industry trends to enhance project effectiveness.
  • Recommend improvements to project management processes for better efficiency.
  • Coordinate with finance and project control teams, as well as other project and line managers.
  • Direct project team activities with a focus on safety, quality, schedule adherence, and budget control.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Manage activities for refueling outages, forced outages, and on-line work.
  • Develop and track budgets, ensuring projects remain within financial and schedule constraints.
  • Oversee work package preparation, parts procurement, safety planning, resource loading, and risk management.
  • Manage contracts, vendor relationships, and stakeholder communications, including presentations to senior management.
  • Develop long-term strategies for assigned projects and ensure effective implementation of self-assessment and corrective action programs.
  • Support outage efforts, including roles at the Operations Command Center (OCC).

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or related field + 20 years’ experience in a technical field.
  • OR Associate’s degree + 22 years’ experience.
  • OR High School Diploma/GED + 24 years’ experience.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) is mandatory.
  • RO/SRO License or CGS Management Certification is required.
  • An advanced degree may substitute for two years of experience.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in a related field or business.
  • Extensive experience as a direct supervisor or project manager in a commercial nuclear industry environment.
  • Construction Management Certification.
  • Nuclear plant operator production coordination or work management experience.

Certifications:

  • Must Have: PMP Certification (Active certification required).
  • Nice to Have: Construction Management Certification (desired but not required).

Abilities and Skills:

  1. Required:
  • Expertise in error reduction, human performance improvement, and cost-effective work execution.
  • Experience managing complex projects, refueling and forced outages.
  • Advanced project management techniques for commercial nuclear power plants.
  • Proficiency in stakeholder communication and reporting, including oral boards (Expert Panel Interviews).

Desired:

  • Management experience and participation in industry committees or external audits.
  • Proficiency in project management and budget process software.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory and procedural requirements for operations, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Skilled in MS Office programs and Passport software.
  • Diverse Assignment Experience: Acquiring new job skills and knowledge through significant role changes, including external experiences such as startup work, QA/QC roles, military service, or aerospace and semiconductor industry experience.
