Position Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Blow Molding Assistant Manager to oversee and lead the daily operations of our blow molding department. This individual will play a critical role in managing personnel, improving operational efficiency, ensuring product quality, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong background in blow molding, especially with Bekum machines—and demonstrates leadership through accountability, problem-solving, and team development.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Department Leadership

• Lead and manage blow molding operations in alignment with production goals and engineering initiatives.
• Report to the Director of Engineering on key performance indicators, staffing, and operational needs.
• Own and drive department KPIs including uptime, quality, efficiency, and labor productivity.

Operational Oversight

• Supervise daily production activities and ensure adherence to schedules, safety standards, and quality targets.
• Lead a team of operators and technicians, ensuring effective staffing, shift coverage, and performance management.
• Oversee setup, operation, and troubleshooting of Bekum Blow Mold machines.

Technical & Equipment Management

• Collaborate with maintenance to execute preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
• Monitor and optimize machine performance, cycle times, and material usage.
• Lead troubleshooting of equipment and implement sustainable corrective actions.

Quality Assurance

• Conduct regular in-process inspections in partnership with the Quality team.
• Drive resolution of product non-conformances and implement root cause corrective actions.
• Uphold food safety, GMP, and quality standards at all times.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Identify and implement improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Lead initiatives to reduce scrap, increase consistency, and improve throughput.
• Recommend capital improvements and stay updated on industry advancements.

Employee Management

• Support hiring, onboarding, and development of blow molding staff.
• Develop team schedules and execute coaching and performance evaluations.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.

Related Experience:

·       Minimum 5 years of experience in blow molding operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

·       Experience in operating and troubleshooting Bekum Blow Mold machines is required.

Knowledge/Skills Experience:

·       Deep understanding of blow molding processes, equipment, and mold changeovers.

·       Familiarity with food and beverage industry packaging standards.

·       Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

·       Effective communicator with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams.

Travel Requirements: Within Burlington.
