Contract: 6 months with strong extension potential to go multiple years

$7o/hr to $85/hr
Overview
This role supports a high-priority defense program focused on securing embedded systems and protecting mission-critical technology.
You will work within a Systems Security Engineering (SSE) team implementing cybersecurity solutions across hardware, software, and network environments. This role is execution-focused, supporting architecture, compliance, and validation activities across the full system lifecycle.
You are not just documenting controls. You are validating, testing, and helping ensure systems are actually secure in real-world environments.

Key Responsibilities
Cybersecurity Implementation
- Support implementation of system security solutions across products
- Assist in integrating cybersecurity into system development lifecycle
RMF and Compliance
- Support development of RMF documentation for ATO accreditation
- Ensure compliance with NIST RMF controls
Security Validation and Testing
- Analyze cybersecurity data and test results
- Validate secure configurations across systems and infrastructure
- Use tools such as Nessus, STIGs, Evaluate STIG, and RADIX
Systems and Network Security
- Validate security across routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and OS
- Support patching efforts and generate security artifacts
Engineering Support
- Assist in requirements, architecture, and system documentation
- Contribute to overall SSE program execution
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM field (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or system security engineering
- Active Secret clearance required at start
- Experience with DoD cybersecurity or secure system environments
- Experience with system security, embedded systems, or cyber engineering
- Experience supporting requirements, design, or architecture artifacts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NIST RMF and ATO processes
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (Nessus, STIGs, etc.)
- Cyber certifications (CISSP, CEH, GSLC, Security+)
- Scripting experience (Python or Bash)
- Experience working in Linux environments
- Strong collaboration skills in technical team environments
