Industrial Maintenance Technician – Union Food Manufacturing Facility

Join a year-round, high-volume food production plant specializing in canned vegetables like corn, peas, and beets—as well as gravies—at a well-established union facility. We're hiring a hands-on Industrial Maintenance Technician III to support critical production operations.   • Off-Pack Season (Dec–May): Standard shift is 4:30 PM – 1:30 AM.
  • Fresh Vegetable Processing Season (June–Nov): Typically two shifts per day, each lasting 10–12 hours.
  • 4:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 4:00 PM – 4:30 AM
  • Shifts during peak season can vary day-to-day depending on production needs.

What You’ll Do

As a Maintenance Mechanic in our Canning Room, you’ll partner with senior mechanics and cross-functional teams to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize our critical canning equipment:

  • Hands-On Repairs & Assembly: Cut, form, and assemble replacement parts; repair machine guards; perform welding or cutting-torch work to keep lines running.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Oil, grease, and inspect conveyors, piping, and auxiliary equipment, ensuring smooth operation and minimal unplanned downtime.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Visually inspect and test machinery; identify root causes of malfunctions and work with senior mechanics to implement effective repairs.
  • Equipment Installation & Upgrades: Assist in rigging, aligning, and commissioning new or upgraded canning machinery—supporting everything from mechanical adjustments to final start-up checks.
  • Documentation & Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate maintenance logs, parts inventories, and compliance records for audit-readiness and continuous improvement.
  • Production Support: Step in to operate canning lines when needed—relieving production staff for breaks or covering critical roles during peak demand.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all company work, safety, and GMP policies; participate in safety audits and contribute ideas for a safer workplace.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams to prioritize maintenance tasks and deliver on production goals.

What You Bring

  • Mechanical Aptitude: 3–12 months’ experience with industrial machinery or a strong hands-on aptitude; willingness to learn on the job.
  • Technical Skills: Comfort reading basic schematics, work instructions, and maintenance manuals.
  • Certifications & Training: High school diploma or equivalent; forklift certification (or willingness to certify immediately).
  • Team Player: Strong communicator, adaptable, and ready to support colleagues across maintenance and production.
  • Safety Focus: Commitment to GMP, OSHA, and internal safety standards—demonstrated by following lock-out/tag-out procedures and reporting hazards.
  • Reliability: Flexible approach to shift work and occasional after-hours support, ensuring the canning room stays fully operational.
