Position Summary
The C&PM Projects Supervisor will oversee a team of project managers—including both direct employees and contractors—who are responsible for the execution of capital projects assigned through the Project Review Committee (PRC). This role requires extensive coordination with departments including Construction & Project Management, Design Engineering, System Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and other cross-functional teams.
This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational goals and project management best practices. The supervisor will also serve as the department’s primary liaison with Project Controls and other internal project-focused groups.
Key Responsibilities
Managing:
- Supervise a team of project managers following established company policies and procedures
- Oversee performance management, hiring, promotions, salary decisions, transfers, and terminations for both direct and contract personnel
Leading:
- Provide clear vision and direction for the team
- Apply established leadership principles to maintain expectations, accountability, and high performance
Developing:
- Mentor and support the growth of project managers
- Drive team engagement using participative leadership strategies aligned with department objectives
Planning:
- Develop and implement strategic objectives for the department
- Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure alignment and secure needed support
Scheduling:
- Ensure the development and maintenance of resource-loaded schedules
- Maintain project focus and momentum through regular engagement with direct reports
Evaluating:
- Monitor progress using defined metrics and performance indicators
- Conduct project reviews and apply lessons learned for continuous improvement
Controlling:
- Conduct internal assessments to compare department progress against strategic goals
- Identify deviations and implement corrective actions as needed
Education & Experience Requirements
Required (one of the following):
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university + 6 years of experience in project management, design, construction, testing, maintenance, or operations
- OR High school diploma or GED + 10 years of experience in the same areas
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of project scheduling, project controls, and modern project management methodologies
- Familiarity with BWR (Boiling Water Reactor) systems and components
- PMP Certification (Project Management Professional)
- Effective at managing complex personnel and organizational challenges
- Strong decision-making and strategic planning abilities
- Ability to inspire and sustain high performance across teams
- Proficiency in administrative functions, budgeting, people management, and delivering professional presentations
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional project teams and deliver results within technical and regulatory constraints
