Schedule and duration
- 4 days per week, 10 hrs per day (Mon–Thurs)
- 12 months, strong chance to extend multiple years
- On-call: No
Per diem
- Per diem available for qualified non-local candidates
- Typical structure: $216/day
- Tax treatment: commonly tax-free first 12 months, taxable after 12 months (final treatment depends on length of assignment and individual tax situation)
Travel
- Level II and Level III may travel up to 5%.
Level III: Project Manager III (Nuclear Projects)
Pay rate (candidate pay, based on experience): $90 to $105/hr
Role summary
You lead the most complex, highest risk, highest visibility projects, typically $10M+ total cost. You drive execution strategy, readiness, and oversight across engineering, procurement, construction, and outage work. You coach other PMs and provide candid, real-time feedback to improve execution.
Core responsibilities
- Own project strategy, execution approach, and readiness plans
- Review and improve key project artifacts: lifecycle schedules, vendor means and methods, risk register, work orders, QC hold points, test and commissioning plans, turnover strategy, resource load boards, and estimates
- Identify error traps and fix work instruction quality before field execution
- Drive schedule performance, quality outcomes, and resource efficiency
- Provide oversight in shop/field as needed, including off-shift designated person in charge
- Apply operating experience and coach teams to preclude failure modes
- Support mock-up decisions and effectiveness
- Support code and standard compliance; may serve as ASME PIC for Section XI repair and replacement scope when requested
- Participate in key meetings (design reviews, steering committees, readiness challenges, schedule development, risk management)
Must-haves
- Commercial nuclear PM experience with capital projects and outage work
- Strong understanding of EPC processes
- Primavera P6 proficiency
- Strong grasp of project governance, risk, and execution controls
- Active PMP required
Level II: Project Manager II (Nuclear Projects)
Pay rate (candidate pay, based on experience): $80 to $99hr
Role summary
You independently manage complex multi-discipline projects, typically under $10M, and lead teams >10 people. You mentor other PMs and step in for supervisors when needed.
Core responsibilities
- Lead planning, scheduling, execution control, and closeout
- Own budget development and cost vs budget tracking
- Drive outage and online work execution: work packages, procurement, ALARA planning, safety, clearance orders, prioritization, resource loading, risk management
- Resolve schedule delays and conflicts in real time
- Coordinate with project controls and finance
- Deliver written and verbal updates to senior leadership
- Support corrective action and self-assessment programs
- Outage support including OCC as needed
Must-haves
- Commercial nuclear project management background in regulated industrial environments
- Demonstrated leadership, planning, and decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Active PMP required (provide cert # and expiration date)
Level I: Project Manager I (Nuclear Projects)
Pay rate (candidate pay, based on experience): $70 to $84/hr
Role summary
You manage small to mid-sized projects with minimal oversight and lead teams of 5 to 10. You own priorities, execution coordination, and project controls alignment while operating inside a procedure-driven nuclear environment.
Core responsibilities
- Manage planning, scheduling, and control of project activities
- Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with line managers
- Own budget support, cost tracking, and interface with finance and project controls
- Support outage and online maintenance execution, including OCC support as needed
- Resolve schedule conflicts and execution delays
- Provide updates to leadership and stakeholders
- Support corrective action and self-assessment programs
Must-haves
- Commercial nuclear project delivery exposure (outage and online work strongly preferred)
- Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities
- Strong understanding of human performance and error reduction concepts
Non-negotiables
Submit only candidates who meet all of these:
- Commercial nuclear power plant experience (utility, commercial nuclear site, or commercial nuclear projects)
- U.S. citizen
- Will work onsite in Richland, WA on 4x10 schedule
- Can provide required RTR documents (attached in your process)
Do not submit
- DOE-only nuclear (Hanford, INL, Savannah River, LANL, etc.) without clear commercial nuclear experience
- Candidates lacking the required PMP for Level II or Level III
- Candidates who cannot work onsite or cannot meet U.S. citizenship requirement
