R&D Food Scientist

Overview

A leading food and beverage manufacturer is seeking an R&D Food Scientist to support product innovation, renovation, and commercialization efforts.

You will lead and execute product development projects, working cross-functionally to bring new and improved products from concept through plant launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop formulations supporting:
  • Innovation
  • Renovation
  • Productivity initiatives
  • Manage medium to high complexity R&D projects through stage-gate process
  • Serve as the R&D lead within cross-functional project teams
  • Partner with:
  • Ingredient suppliers
  • Co-manufacturers
  • External vendors
  • Design and execute product trials and experiments
  • Organize tastings and evaluate results with cross-functional teams
  • Support consumer testing:
  • Sample production
  • Product quality validation
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to commercialize products
  • Prepare and manage:
  • Product specifications
  • Documentation for production startup
  • Share best practices across global R&D teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field with 5–10 years of experience
  • OR Master’s degree with 3–5 years of experience
  • Experience in:
  • Food or beverage product development
  • Commercialization in manufacturing environments
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with R&D, Operations, and Engineering
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable mentoring or guiding junior team members
  • Proficient with standard R&D and documentation tools

Compensation & Details

  • Pay: $51.72/hr
  • Schedule: 100% onsite in Louisville, CO
  • Duration: April through October contract (potential to extend based on project needs)
