Assistant Warehouse Manager (Food Manufacturing) — On-Site, Montgomery, MN

Compensation: $70,000–$85,000 base + up to 7.5% bonus

Schedule: Typically 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; weekend coverage during busy season

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Direct reports: 57 warehouse employees

Employment type: Full-time, on-site

Summary

Assist with planning, organizing, directing, and controlling daily warehouse operations at a high-volume food manufacturing plant.

What you’ll do

  • Supervise and manage warehouse employees.
  • Schedule and direct movement of product.
  • Oversee labeling, shipping, and receiving.
  • Coordinate incoming freight.
  • Coordinate scheduling of required maintenance projects.
  • Maintain compliance with 100% TRACEABILITY policy.
  • Coordinate compliance with Safety and Food Safety programs.

Additional responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with applicable Union Labor Agreement.
  • Monitor departmental performance and make adjustments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to direct and supervise department employees.
  • Solid knowledge of warehouse operations.
  • Ability to organize and direct multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education/training or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.

Experience

  • 2–5 years as a Group Leader and/or Supervisor in labeling, packaging, warehousing, shipping, or a closely related area.

Physical requirements (regularly, ~30%+ of the time)

  • Hand movement; hand/eye coordination; reading; writing.
  • Standing; sitting; bending; twisting/turning; climbing; crawling.
  • Pushing/pulling; lifting 30 lbs or more.
  • Respirator fit as required.

Working conditions

  • Time split between warehouse floor and office.
  • Frequent exposure to weather-related temperature conditions and moving mechanical parts in the warehouse.
  • Occasional exposure to exhaust fumes or airborne particles.
  • Frequent exposure to high noise levels.

Safety requirements

  • PPE: bump hat, hairnet, eye and ear protection (plus other protective equipment as required).

Accountability

  • Assist the Warehouse Manager in directing all warehouse operations.
  • Poor organization and planning can negatively impact customer service and inventory results.
  • Make sound decisions that support the company and its customers.
