Assistant Warehouse Manager (Food Manufacturing) — On-Site, Montgomery, MN
Compensation: $70,000–$85,000 base + up to 7.5% bonus
Schedule: Typically 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; weekend coverage during busy season
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Direct reports: 57 warehouse employees

Summary
Assist with planning, organizing, directing, and controlling daily warehouse operations at a high-volume food manufacturing plant.
What you’ll do
- Supervise and manage warehouse employees.
- Schedule and direct movement of product.
- Oversee labeling, shipping, and receiving.
- Coordinate incoming freight.
- Coordinate scheduling of required maintenance projects.
- Maintain compliance with 100% TRACEABILITY policy.
- Coordinate compliance with Safety and Food Safety programs.
Additional responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with applicable Union Labor Agreement.
- Monitor departmental performance and make adjustments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to direct and supervise department employees.
- Solid knowledge of warehouse operations.
- Ability to organize and direct multiple projects simultaneously.
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education/training or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
Experience
- 2–5 years as a Group Leader and/or Supervisor in labeling, packaging, warehousing, shipping, or a closely related area.
Physical requirements (regularly, ~30%+ of the time)
- Hand movement; hand/eye coordination; reading; writing.
- Standing; sitting; bending; twisting/turning; climbing; crawling.
- Pushing/pulling; lifting 30 lbs or more.
- Respirator fit as required.
Working conditions
- Time split between warehouse floor and office.
- Frequent exposure to weather-related temperature conditions and moving mechanical parts in the warehouse.
- Occasional exposure to exhaust fumes or airborne particles.
- Frequent exposure to high noise levels.
Safety requirements
- PPE: bump hat, hairnet, eye and ear protection (plus other protective equipment as required).
Accountability
- Assist the Warehouse Manager in directing all warehouse operations.
- Poor organization and planning can negatively impact customer service and inventory results.
- Make sound decisions that support the company and its customers.
