Job Description:
Support temporary increases in engineering tasks for ongoing projects. Process data compilations and report generation for a chemical pilot plant. Pilot plant operator, outdoors, SHIFT WORK WILL BE NEEDED from time to time 24/6 and 24/7 projects. Work with operators to generate data and hydrocarbon / chemical products. Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Visio to generate mass balances, data compilations and reports. Operation of chemical pilot plants to include troubleshooting, installation of equipment, maintenance (turnarounds) assist with safety procedural and operating instructions, prepare samples, cleanup of pilot plant unit. Will be part of a shift team in operating pilot plant. Day to day work involve working with pumps, heat trace, high temperatures oils, drum heaters and chemicals. Will also be required to assist / supervise operations of pilot plant design work. Technical strength or experience in quick rule of thumb design calculations (examples: pressure drops, estimating heat transfer (conductive/convective) and velocity calculations (pipe sizing / particle transport) will be utilized. Controls systems work (implanting chemical processes using various controls strategies).May be used ofr mechanical design work specifically tied to process engineering.

We operate some of our projects on a 24/7 schedule, the specific shifts are defined once the person is on the project. For 24/7, the shifts will usually be 12.5 hrs, with four days on and four days off. The personnel typically rotate shifts, meaning day shift, rest days, night shift, rest days, and then the cycle repeats. For this schedule people are usually coming in between the hours of 5 am – 7 am and leaving between 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, or coming in on the reverse hours for night shift. If it's a 24/5 schedule, shifts can be 8 hr shifts for five days a week. The shifts can usually be from 6 am – 2:30 pm, 2 pm – 10:30 pm, and 10 pm – 6 am.
