Job Description - Project Manager I

Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects and programs, including planning, scheduling, and controlling activities with minimal oversight.
  • Lead project teams of 5–10 members, establishing priorities and maintaining a general knowledge of all project aspects within scope.
  • Direct project team activities, staying updated on new technologies and industry trends related to assigned projects.
  • Monitor project management processes and recommend improvements for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Manage project budgets, working closely with finance and project controls teams.
  • Coordinate with other project and line managers.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Oversee project activities for refueling outages, forced outages, and on-line work to ensure safe, quality, on-schedule, and on-budget implementation.
  • Develop and track project budgets, working closely with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage contracts and vendor interfaces.
  • Create and maintain project schedules that account for risk, progress tracking, critical path, and float management.
  • Deliver written and oral presentations to various groups, including senior management.
  • Develop and maintain long-term project strategies.
  • Support self-assessment and corrective action programs at the Columbia Generating Station.
  • Provide outage support, including at the Operations Command Center (OCC).

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or related field + 8 years’ experience in a technical field.
  • OR Associate’s degree in the above fields + 10 years’ experience.
  • OR High School Diploma/GED + 12 years’ experience.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • RO/SRO License or CGS Management Certificate.
  • Project Management or Construction Management Certification.
  • Experience in supervisory or project management roles in a commercial nuclear industry environment (e.g., maintenance, operations, engineering, or construction).
  • Nuclear plant operator production coordination experience or plant production work management.

Certifications:

  • Nice to Have:
  • PMP Certification.
  • Construction Management Certification.

Abilities and Skills:

Required:

  • Expertise in error reduction, human performance improvement, and cost-effective work execution.
  • Experience in managing projects, on-line work management, or outage management.
  • Proficiency in standard project management techniques.

Desired:

  • Experience at commercial nuclear power plants or similar facilities.
  • Proficiency in project management and budget process software.
  • Knowledge of code and regulatory requirements related to maintenance and engineering.
  • Experience in evaluating maintenance programs, procedures, schedules, and performance.
  • Skilled in software such as Passport and Microsoft Office.

  • Green Badge Level 2: Must complete an ePHQ, full background screen, FFD testing. Provides access to specific areas inside and outside the plant based on UAR requests.
