Mechanical Planner III (Nuclear)
Location: Richland, WA (Columbia Generating Station)
Schedule: 4x10s (40 hrs/week)
Pay- $65-83/hr depending on experience.
Duration: 12-month contract (strong extension potential)
Pay: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience)
Per Diem: $216/day (additional 79K/year in untaxed income)
Role Overview
You will plan and prepare mechanical work packages supporting nuclear plant projects. This role ensures maintenance and project work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with nuclear standards and procedures.
You will work closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to drive execution from planning through completion while minimizing delays and maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical work packages for plant projects and maintenance activities
- Perform field walkdowns to validate scope, materials, and execution strategy
- Coordinate parts, tools, labor, and resources required for each job
- Support scheduling, prioritization, and resource loading activities
- Lead pre-job and post-job briefings
- Monitor work execution and resolve field issues in real time
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards, procedures, and ALARA principles
- Review completed work packages for accuracy and closeout
- Track performance metrics including backlog, schedule adherence, and productivity
- Provide coaching and feedback to maintenance personnel
- Support training and may serve as instructor on select topics
Required Qualifications
- Commercial nuclear power plant experience required
- Strong understanding of nuclear work management and planning processes
- Experience with mechanical maintenance, engineering, operations, or planning
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and procedures
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience (one of the following):
- Bachelor’s degree + 6+ years relevant experience
- Associate’s degree + 8+ years experience
- High school diploma + 10+ years experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
