Materials Manager – Nuclear Projects
Location: Columbia Generating Station – Richland, WA
Schedule: 4 days x 10 hr shifts (4/10s)
Contract Length: 12 months with likely extensions
Pay: $55–$63/hr
Per Diem: $216/day (up to $78,840/year tax free)- If not Local to the area- Full comp with perdiem ~$204K/Year
Travel: May be authorized
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
Position Overview
The Materials Manager – Nuclear Projects coordinates the procurement, verification, tracking, and staging of critical materials used for nuclear plant maintenance and engineering projects.
You will work across engineering, project management, supply chain, and warehouse operations to ensure parts, tools, and specialty materials are available and traceable throughout all phases of project execution.
This role directly supports:
- Refueling outages
- Forced outages
- Online maintenance projects
- Engineering modifications
Success in this role requires strong material tracking, procurement coordination, and nuclear quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Project Materials Coordination
- Coordinate procurement of materials across all phases of nuclear maintenance and engineering projects
- Track and manage materials needed for refueling outages, forced outages, and online maintenance
- Support project teams by ensuring materials are available prior to scheduled work execution
Procurement & Supply Chain Coordination
- Initiate and track:
- Catalog Identifications (CATIDs)
- Material Requests (MRs)
- Purchase Orders (POs)
- Work closely with engineering, supply chain, and warehouse teams to ensure timely material delivery
- Maintain visibility of procurement status across multiple projects
Material Tracking & Documentation
- Develop and maintain tracking systems to monitor status of all project materials
- Ensure full traceability of nuclear-grade materials from procurement through installation
- Validate engineering change Bills of Material (BOM) within Asset Suite 9
Material Inspection & Inventory
- Receive and inspect specialty vendor materials delivered to site
- Verify quantity, quality, and documentation for nuclear compliance
- Stage materials according to project schedules
Warehouse & Field Support
- Handle and issue materials to work teams
- Maintain material traceability from warehouse through installation
- Operate work vehicles and assist with warehouse operations when required
Logistics & Issue Resolution
- Support Supply Chain Services in resolving shipping issues including:
- Overage
- Shortage
- Damaged
- Discrepancy (OSD&D)
Communication & Reporting
- Provide written and verbal procurement status updates to:
- Project teams
- Engineering groups
- Supply chain leadership
- Senior management

Required Education & Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following:
Option 1
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Engineering
- Construction Management
- Project Management
- Business
- Related technical field
- 1+ year experience in a technical environment
Option 2
- Associate’s degree in a technical discipline
- 3+ years technical experience
Option 3
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years experience in a technical field
Desired Experience
Highly preferred experience includes:
- Nuclear refueling outage support
- Nuclear material traceability systems
- Project materials coordination
- Supply chain logistics within nuclear facilities
- Engineering change management
Preferred certifications:
- Project Management Certification
