Location: Multi-Site Manufacturing Environment - Burlington NC


Schedule:

1st shift: 7:00am-3:30pm

2nd shift: 3:00pm-11:30pm

3rd Shift: 11:00pm-7:30am


*Quality is currently working 6 days a week due to seasonal demand, will revert back to 5 once busy season passes. 


Position Overview


The Quality Manager leads Quality Control Technicians across all shifts at a single production facility. This role is responsible for ensuring consistent product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance throughout manufacturing operations. The Quality Manager serves as a key liaison between Quality, Production, and site leadership, driving continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Leadership and Oversight

  • Supervise and schedule Quality Control Technicians across all three shifts to ensure adequate coverage
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development support to QC team members
  • Conduct shift handoffs and daily reviews to maintain continuity of quality standards
  • Support hiring, training, and cross-training initiatives within the Quality team

Quality Control and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with GMPs, food safety standards, and customer requirements
  • Oversee daily line checks performed by QC Technicians, including product integrity, brix and pH testing, label and date code verification, and GMP audits
  • Monitor, escalate, and resolve quality deviations, complaints, and nonconformances in a timely manner
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, and Sanitation teams to implement corrective and preventive actions

Audits and Documentation

  • Prepare for and support regulatory, customer, and third-party audits
  • Maintain accurate and timely quality documentation, reports, and data tracking

Collaboration and Communication

  • Act as the primary on-site quality leader for production management and shift supervisors
  • Ensure consistent communication of quality expectations across all shifts
  • Escalate major quality issues to senior quality leadership and support corrective action planning
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and food safety awareness


Qualifications


Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • HACCP, PCQI, SQF, or other food safety certifications preferred

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of quality assurance or quality control experience in food manufacturing
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience required

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and industry standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to lead and collaborate across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management systems
  • High attention to detail and ability to interpret customer quality requirements

Travel Requirements

  • Travel required between multiple manufacturing facilities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Use of hands and fingers for inspection and documentation
  • Ability to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to speak, hear, and clearly see, including color, depth, and peripheral vision
