Role overview
You keep processing and packaging equipment running during pack season. In the off-pack months, you support rebuilds, installs, overhauls, and PM work. This is hands-on mechanical work. If you can turn wrenches, troubleshoot, and work safely, you can succeed here. Auto mechanics often do well.
Schedule
Off-pack
- Target schedule: 4x10, Monday to Thursday
- Flex during the week: you can work up to 12 hrs Monday to Thursday to make up time
- No make-up hours on Friday
Pack season (mid-June through 1st week of November)
- Plant shift: 12-hr shifts, 7:00am to 7:00pm or 7:00pm to 7:00am
- Rotation: multiple switches through the season- Pea pack, then Corn pack, then Carrot pack (timing varies, do not plan on exact switch dates)
- Days off pattern (when fully staffed): 7 on / 2 off, 7 on / 2 off, 7 on / 3 off
- Startup note: first days off may not happen until the plant is running well (often 3 to 4 days in, sometimes up to 7 to 10 days depending on startup)
What you’ll do
- Inspect, maintain, and repair processing and packaging equipment
- Troubleshoot breakdowns and reduce downtime
- Dismantle, rebuild, align, and adjust machinery
- Read and apply blueprints, manuals, and mechanical drawings
- Complete PMs and document work completed
- Work safely and follow GMP and food safety requirements
- Support winter projects, rebuilds, and installs
What they look for
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on repair experience
- Comfortable troubleshooting and working with a team
- Welding is helpful, not required
- Reliable attendance, especially during pack season
Pay
- $28 to $32/hr- Can go higher based on experience/industry/tenure, etc
