Role Overview
Support and drive comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (EHS) programs across engineering facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and embedding a culture of risk awareness and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Implementation & Support
- Deploy and maintain EHS initiatives, including electrical safety, explosives safety, radiation (ionizing/non-ionizing), laser safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), cranes/hoists, fall protection, machine guarding, job hazard analysis, and powered industrial vehicles.
- Act as the technical EHS resource for engineering reviews—interpreting and applying OSHA, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, IFC, IBC and other relevant standards.
- Serve as the dedicated EHS engineer for assigned facilities and engineering programs.
- Policy Development & Collaboration
- Develop, document and roll out EHS policies and procedures tailored to specific site needs.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent program execution and regulatory alignment.
- Incident Investigation & Continuous Improvement
- Lead injury investigations and root-cause analyses; define corrective actions and monitor closure.
- Support internal and external audit readiness (e.g., ADOSH VPP, third-party assessments).
- Contribute to broader site EHS efforts, including industrial hygiene initiatives and hazard monitoring.
- Training & Engagement
- Design and deliver instructor-led training on core safety topics.
- Proactively engage stakeholders to drive toward established safety goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant EHS experience
- Solid knowledge of OSHA regulations and ANSI standards
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptable mindset, open to supporting additional EHS campaigns and rotations
Desired Skills & Certifications
- Hands-on experience in lab or field-test safety environments
- Familiarity with Enablon (or similar) EHS management software
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Success Metrics
- ≥80% of incident investigations and safety-concern closures completed on time (within 30 days)
- 100% on-time closure of audit and inspection findings
- Active partnership with site teams to achieve 2025 targets, including:
- Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRIR) ≤ 0.29
- Lost Day Incident Rate (LDIR) ≤ 0.10
