Job Title: Enterprise Risk & Strategy Specialist

Location: Richland, WA (onsite – no remote)

Schedule: 4x10s (four 10-hour days per week)

Citizenship Requirement: U.S. citizenship required

Position Overview

This role provides strategic planning and enterprise risk management support across the agency. The specialist will work with all business units to evaluate risks, strengthen internal controls, and integrate risk management into core operations.

Key elements include:

  • Building and maintaining the risk register.
  • Developing and executing risk assurance mapping.
  • Supporting audits and internal control evaluations.
  • Driving continuous improvement of risk practices in line with industry standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Coordinating with senior leadership and the Executive Board Auditor.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Develop and maintain policies and procedures for identifying, assessing, and managing enterprise risks and internal controls.
  2. Establish and communicate risk management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  3. Collect, evaluate, and maintain data on risk assessments, mitigation activities, and controls.
  4. Partner with business units to create, maintain, and improve risk registers.
  5. Conduct risk assessments, audits, and control evaluations; prepare and present findings.
  6. Perform follow-up reviews to confirm closure of audit findings and risk mitigation actions.
  7. Design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and awareness programs to promote risk culture.
  8. Coordinate with the Executive Board Auditor and designated Board contacts on audit and risk matters.
  9. Maintain audit and risk documentation per retention and compliance requirements.
  10. Provide oversight to matrixed staff, contractors, or temporary employees supporting risk/audit activities.
  11. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the risk management program; recommend enhancements.
  12. Drive continuous improvement of risk management practices and alignment with best practices.
  13. Conduct special projects, benchmarking studies, or assignments as directed.
  14. Support the biennial refueling outage.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Strategy, Risk, Audit, or related field + 7 years’ experience
  • OR Associate degree + 9 years’ experience
  • OR High school diploma/GED + 11 years’ experience

Desired Education & Experience

  • Familiarity with enterprise risk tools/software (Safran preferred).
  • Background in energy or nuclear power generation processes (operations, work management, finance, accounting, HR, audit, or strategic planning).

  • Ability to develop quality deliverables, including audit reports and Board presentations.

  • Knowledge of audit/accounting standards, state/federal requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills: able to build consensus, facilitate groups, and secure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Ability to motivate others, maintain energy, and keep teams engaged.
  • Customer-focused mindset with emphasis on reliability, safety, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Effective under pressure; maintains stable performance during stress.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with ability to field questions at senior levels.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge through workshops and one-on-one training.

Desired Abilities & Skills

  • General understanding of nuclear plant operations.
