Maintenance Technician

Location: Portland, OR

Shift: May be Swing shift or Night Shift. Will know exact hours later this week, but days off would likely be during the week. Weekends will be working days. They typically run 4x10's.

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our frozen yogurt and ice cream manufacturing facility. This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing high-speed food production equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Wages: Mechanic 3 – $30.75/hr | Mechanic 2 – $35.88/hr | Mechanic 1 – $41.00/hr
  • Shift Differential: $0.50/hr for hours worked between 3:30 PM – 4:30 AM
  • Sign-On Bonus: $2,000 paid in 3 installments ($500 at 30 days, $500 at 90 days, $1,000 at 12 months)

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical breakdowns in manufacturing production equipment.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, equipment repairs, and preventative/predictive maintenance.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex equipment problems with minimal initial information or direction.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other operations personnel.
  • Follow all personal safety, food safety, and environmental standards.
  • Adhere to established maintenance processes and technical standards to maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • 2–4 years of maintenance experience in a food production/manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to repair and troubleshoot mechanical issues on packaging, filling, and other food processing equipment.
  • Experience with high-speed production equipment; Evergreen packaging equipment experience is a plus.
  • Strongly preferred: prior dairy, food, or beverage manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Background in a combination of the following areas:
  • PLC
  • Instrumentation
  • Pumps
  • Mechanical, pneumatic, motors, electrical, hydraulic, lubrication
  • HVAC, refrigeration, freezers, compressors, utilities, boilers
  • Ammonia-based systems
