Safety & Environmental Technician


Position Summary

The Safety & Environmental Technician is responsible for supporting safety and environmental activities throughout the facility. This role performs routine inspections, assists with hazardous waste management, maintains safety equipment and chemical inventories, and supports compliance with safety and environmental requirements.

Essential Job Duties

  • Conduct safety and environmental inspections, including:
  • Secondary containment
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Safety showers
  • Chemical storage
  • Heavy equipment
  • Assist with bulk waste management by:
  • Collecting samples from hazardous waste containers
  • Preparing hazardous waste containers
  • Submitting and reviewing required paperwork
  • Transporting hazardous waste using a forklift
  • Support safety and environmental activities, including:
  • Chemical and waste labeling
  • Chemical inventory management
  • Purchasing and organizing supplies
  • Chemical waste disposal
  • Heavy equipment maintenance
  • Safety equipment maintenance

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High school diploma required.
  • Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Experience working with chemicals or chemical processes is required. Laboratory technician experience is a plus.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • No prior experience required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in plant, laboratory, and high-bay environments.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel between multiple work locations across a 1,500-acre property.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance and under 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must wear steel-toe shoes.
  • Must be able to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
  • This position is classified as safety-sensitive.

Work Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Overtime may be required as needed.

Dress Code

  • Collared shirt and jeans.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
