Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Programming & Floor Support

Tucson, AZ (Onsite)

Pay Rate: $73/hr – $82/hr

Schedule: 5/40 (8:00am – 5:00pm)

Duration: 6 months (strong extension or conversion potential)

Clearance: Active or Interim Secret required at submittal

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen required

Program Overview

This role supports a high-priority missile production program tied to the AIM-9X (Sidewinder) program.

You will be working inside a precision machining environment that directly supports defense production hardware. The focus is on improving throughput, supporting machinists on the floor, and ensuring CNC programs and processes meet strict quality and performance standards.

Overview

We are hiring a Manufacturing Engineer with strong CNC programming experience to support a high-volume machining environment.

This is a hands-on role where you will work directly with machinists, troubleshoot production issues, and drive improvements in machining efficiency, tooling, and programming.

You will play a key role in maintaining production flow, improving cycle times, and supporting new product introduction in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do

  • Support daily machining operations on the shop floor
  • Program and prove out CNC programs for:
  • 3, 4, and 5-axis mills
  • Live tooling lathes
  • Work directly with machinists to improve efficiency and resolve issues
  • Develop tooling and fixture concepts to improve production
  • Optimize cutting parameters and machining strategies
  • Create and maintain standard work and documentation
  • Support new product introduction and process development
  • Troubleshoot machining and production issues in real time
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve throughput and reduce cost
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering or CNC programming experience
  • Strong proficiency with Mastercam CAD/CAM
  • Experience with:
  • 5-axis CNC programming
  • Live tooling lathes
  • Tooling and fixture design
  • Hands-on shop floor experience working with machinists
  • Strong understanding of:
  • GD&T
  • Technical drawings
  • Inspection methods
  • Ability to troubleshoot and improve machining processes

Preferred:

  • Experience with CATIA, CREO, NX, or SolidWorks
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing background
  • Experience in automated machining cells

Arizona Sick Leave:

Accrues at 1 hour per 30 hours worked
