Position Summary:
Mechanic with mechanical/electrical background and is willing to work on mechanical and electrical types of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) equipment. Electricians / Mechanics will adhere to and comply with service bulletins, diagnostics, and troubleshooting GSE. This role covers maintenance and repair of a broad range of ground support equipment, including but not limited to electrical splitter boxes, boom lifts, scissor lifts, air compressors, & 400 Hz generators. All technicians will report directly to the Shop Manager. Position is based at San Antonio Port Authority.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
o Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, mechanical, and HVAC discrepancies on various Ground Support Equipment (GSE) systems and subsystems.
o Re-wiring electrical splitter boxes, repairing various electrical issues on ground support equipment.
o Meticulously document all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance actions utilizing computer-based Maintenance Information Systems (MIS).
o Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies and reduce downtime.
o Strictly adhere to common aviation practices of Tool Control, FOD Prevention, Safety, and Parts Accountability.
o Strict adherence to all environmental safety and regulatory commissions, including (but not limited to) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
o Ensure proper safety while operating equipment on-site.
o Implementing and enforcing quality control and safety measures during repair and maintenance activities.
o Perform routine housekeeping duties, including cleaning work area, toolboxes, and company vehicle(s).
o Professional interaction and coordinating with internal departments and external customers.
o Other assignments as designated.
Qualifications and Experience:
o Minimum 1-4 years of service experience with electrical systems.
o Preferred 1-2 years performing repair and maintenance on various ground support equipment.
o Familiarity with the use of repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics necessary to troubleshoot and/or repair failed components.
o Basic computer skills.
o Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas).
o Ability to work in all weather conditions.
o Tools provided.
o Opportunities for O/T as needed
Other Requirements:
o Must be able to read and speak the English language.
o Possible shift work 1st Shift 6am-2:30pm. Possible shift rotation in the future.
o Ability to work both as a team and/or independently with great success.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
o Preferred Universal HVAC certification.
o Must have a valid driver’s license.
