Automotive Electrical Technician

A major automotive manufacturing program needs experienced electrical diagnostic technicians to find circuit faults, repair vehicle wiring to OEM standards, and resolve difficult electrical issues on newly manufactured vehicles. This is hands-on, onsite work supporting vehicle quality and production readiness in a modern assembly environment.

The best fit is a bilingual Spanish/English technician with at least five years of advanced automotive electrical repair experience, strong schematic-reading skills, and the independence to diagnose root causes, complete repairs, and guide other technicians.

Schedule: Flexible 8-hour shifts within a 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. operating window; some weekends and overtime required

Responsibilities

• Provide weekday and occasional weekend vehicle repair support at an OEM assembly facility.
• Diagnose electrical system and circuit faults, determine the repair path, and communicate estimated repair time to onsite leadership.
• Repair or replace damaged wiring, terminals, connectors, harness sections, modules, and related electrical components to OEM standards.
• Install and service vehicle wiring systems; troubleshoot immobilizer, alarm, charging, starting, body, and other vehicle electrical systems.
• Use digital multimeters, OEM scan tools, wiring diagrams, and related diagnostic equipment to isolate root causes accurately.
• Interpret early engineering-level electrical schematics and explain vehicle electrical architectures and subsystem interactions.
• Perform root-cause analysis, document repairs, complete required reports, and share lessons learned with site leadership.
• Coach other repair personnel on efficient diagnostic methods and serve as a subject-matter resource for complex electrical issues.
• Maintain a clean work area and keep diagnostic and repair equipment ready for use.
• Travel occasionally to other facilities when program support is needed.

Qualifications

• Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English.
• At least 5 years of professional experience as an automotive electrical repair or diagnostic technician.
• Advanced knowledge of modern vehicle electrical systems and proven experience diagnosing faults from an advanced diagnostics perspective.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and use a DMM, OEM scan tool, and automotive diagnostic test equipment.
• Associate degree or certificate in Automotive Technology, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel internationally when required by the program.
• Ability to work independently, communicate in one-on-one and small-group settings, and guide other repair personnel.
• Ability to work in confined vehicle spaces, stand or crouch for extended periods, and distinguish subtle color variations.
• U.S. citizenship and U.S. person status are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE certifications, especially Electrical/Electronic Systems or Hybrid/EV credentials.
• Experience as a shop foreman, team lead, senior diagnostic technician, or technical assistance specialist.
• Automotive electrical schematic development or Technical Assistance Center experience.
• Experience supporting new-vehicle launch, assembly-plant repair, end-of-line diagnostics, prototype builds, or EV platforms.
