Hardware Integration and String Test Engineer

Location: Woburn, MA

Schedule: 8:00am to 5:00pm | 9/80 work schedule

Start Date: 2/23/2026

Contract: 12-month contract with strong chance to extend or convert

Pay Rate: $50–72/hr depending on skill set

Clearance: Active or interim Secret required to start

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen required

Role Overview

You will support and lead radar system hardware integration and string testing in a secure lab environment. This role enables Systems and Software Engineering teams to execute development and test activities by ensuring hardware, networking, and lab infrastructure are fully operational, accurate, and test-ready.

This is a hands-on lab role. You will rack hardware, configure systems, support testing, and keep the lab running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, and maintain radar string lab environments
  • Rack, stack, cable, and power servers and lab equipment
  • Configure servers, network switches, and lab infrastructure
  • Install and support Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Manage Cat5 and RF cabling, power distribution, and network connectivity
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop and system-level testing activities
  • Ensure test environments accurately represent real radar configurations
  • Track lab inventory, equipment status, and hardware shipments
  • Coordinate with IT, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, and lab users
  • Mentor team members on string setup using documented procedures
  • Support visits from internal stakeholders and approved external personnel
  • Provide regular lab status updates, readiness reports, and issue tracking to management

Required Skills

  • 5+ years supporting development and test labs in fast-paced environments
  • Strong hands-on hardware integration experience
  • Server setup and configuration experience
  • Networking fundamentals including switches, cabling, and connectivity
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Experience with racking, stacking, cabling, and power management
  • Experience with inventory tracking, logistics, and equipment handling
  • Clear communication and strong organizational skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in government, defense, or cleared lab environments
  • Practical networking experience or certifications such as CCNA or Network+
  • Familiarity with radar systems or complex hardware systems
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing environments
  • Exposure to system power-up sequences and system-level validation

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Work Environment

  • Collaborative, team-based lab setting
  • On-site role in a secure facility
  • Hands-on technical work with minimal administrative overhead
